The story goes that when JM starts something he always finishes it. First let me say that I am grateful that my husband is so talented. Usually when I ask for something that seems more like a wish he actually can do it. So when some great friends sold us this bunk bed for only $50 and I wanted it to "match" Caleb's room JM set out to do it. That was May of 2008. Here we are today January 2010. Over a year to get it done. BUT that is with having to do school work, work, be a husband and a dad all at the same time. So I can not give him grieve about the length in which it took him to finish it. The pure joy of the kids seeing it done in the morning was worth the time.
Now there is Caleb. Caleb's new bed! Wow! He loves this bed and I think he loves it even more because he helped his dad refinish the bed. They spent hours in the garage and patio sanding, talking, and painting. Caleb was so excited to have his dad put the bed up in his room. Caleb being the Robeck that he is has already had his moment with the bed. This morning he slipped and on the way down hit his face and landed saddle sitting on the bed below. It was the first of many I am sure. After the bed was up and all done in Caleb room tonight he was getting down again and missed the bottom step and landed on his back. Should Caleb be wearing a helmet to bed? Oh, I pray for his and his sister's safety!!! I am sure they will be fine as they are laying in the top bunk together tonight. They could not decide who got the sleep at the top first so they are doing it together. So far there is no sleeping just a lot of talking, giggling and Caleb saying "dad RRR won't let me give her a kiss goodnight!"
Once the bed was all done and put up I walked out to see them in the beds and was happy that they finally had the bunk bed they have been waiting for. As for the car bed, well it seems to already been forgotten.
