Our church had an Ash Wednesday service. It was beautiful, simple and meaningful to me. Last year when our church decided to do an ash Wednesday service I was confused and a bit scared. As a kid I did Ash Wednesday and honestly all it meant to me was that for the next 40 days we could not eat meat on Fridays and we had to give something up! Ugh!
These last few years it has meant much more to me. "From dust to dust." The ash symbolizes that we came from dust and to dust we will return but here is where it changes for me. My soul will be in heaven with Christ praising God! I get it. I get why we as a church body do what we do. I told our pastor today that I love this service because it reminds me of where I came from and where I am going. I am blessed to know the Love of Christ Jesus who died on the cross for me so that I could have salvation.
