He is still only 3!

Last night Caleb could not go to sleep to save his life. He cried for chocolate milk (which he never got...really chocolate milk before bed? Not in our house.) He cried for his stuffed animal, he cried for his dad, he was just not going to sleep. So at 9pm I wrapped a blanket around him and sat with him on our couch with the Christmas tree lights on. He finally calmed down as he now had my full attention. He let me cradle him for a good 20 minutes. Where we made funny faces at each other, held hands, and just listened to ourselves breathe. Finally I got too cold and took him to my bed with me (JM was writing at school) and we watched TV for 15 minutes. The funny thing here is that he got on JM's side of the bed, pulled the covers up and said "OK mom, turn the TV on like you and dad do every night!" I said "how do you know we watch TV every night?" He said "OH! I know!!!" With that we laid in the dark watching TV.

Then I heard the ever so joyous sound...he yawned!!! Off went the TV and off to sleep we went not to be awaken until JM came in and gently swooped my little 3 year old up and took him to his bed!

It is moments like these that I need to stop and remember how great it is to have these two little kids that we love so!
